SKETCH OF ANN COURT By Maud Odd (1947) Ann Court, wife of William Court , was born ctober 19 , 1818 in England , probably Dumbleto1 Worchestshire. She was converted to the . D.S. Church by Elders preaching the J ' Gospel and baptised on November 17 , 1839 . For about twelve years after that she and her husband r emained in England , but the urge of the Saints together in Zion was strong within them and so on January 6 , 18 51 , they set sail for America. More than two years elapsed bef ore the ar­rived in Utah, but their long j ourn~y across the ocean and the weary trek across the plains was finally ended . They had reached the promised land. They settled in Kaysville September 10, 1853 . Ann Court had no little girls of her own , but she had a love in her heart for children so she and her husband took a small girl, Carrie Woodhead , to raise . Carrie later became the wife of Edwin Webb . Mrs . Gourt was not a women of prominence and high position. Rather , she was a quiet and unassuming person , going about her household and church duties regularly and faithfully . She loved flowers and always took special care of her garden in which she p!~oduced beautiful specimans of differen t varieties. Her chick-ens and cows also were her special care and pride . She loved the Gospel for which she had endured so much and often testif i ed to its truthfplness in Relief Society meetings . One of her Bccomplishments was a sweet , toned , high range voice , and many t _mes in Fast Meeting , she would start s:i nging hymns with the others jo inj_ng in. Her favorite song was nThe Seer, Joseph the Seer"' which she s ung beautifully. Mrs . Court loved peop .... e and she was never happler than when friends came to see her. She lived to the grand age .of 95 years, pleasant, m_ld 1 tempered, thrifty and faithful to the end of her days . She died November 3, 1913, and was Laid to rest in· the Kaysville­Layton Cemetary.
