Dear Prof. Atiya, Thank you for your kind letter of Sept. 6, and please forgive my long delay in answering - I have been eontinualy traveling since I last saw you. My tripf hone via India, Slam, Hong Hong and Japan, was very enjoyable. I have been hard at work on our Sinai Monastery project since my return. The Libra-y of Congress ia eager to go ahead as originally planned but it does not have the % 10,000 dollars required as a gift for the monastery. I am therefore attempting to secure such a sum for the Monastery from outside sorces. As usual these jobs of raising money fall back on me - however as I promesed the Archbishop, I shall do my very best, I have everything else ready to begin work at the monastery except the % 10,000 for the monastery. Please rush me immediate, urgent assurance from the Archbishop that he will be satisfied with % 10,000 for, if the Archbishop will not be satisfied with this sua I shAll regretfully have to completely drop the entire project. As you know this will be a great tragedity and I trust you will be able to expedite matters. I have just been elected President of the American Foundation for the study of man and will undertake this project on behalf the Libra y of Congress and Farouk University through this foundation. Please rush me a reply at my Washington address and I hope to see you in Sinai in a few weeks enshalah- Greetings to the Archbishop , Sadek bey Gohar and Prof. Meitwally- Beft M&P____4 Sincerely, |
