Atiya Department of Languages University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Aziz, Many thanks for your kind season's greetings, which Lola and you sent us, and I have to apologize that I am late in answering your kind greetings. Since last summer I am Professor Emeritus, and I have spent the whole Fall term at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, only returning a week ago. Unfortunately, we will not be in Washington in April, when you are there, but if you could come to Princeton, as indicated in your greetings, we would be very happy indeed. Now, on April 13 there will be the opening of an exhibition of Illustrated Byzantine Manuscripts in American Collections, in honor of my retirement, held here in our Princeton Museum. I will give a lecture that evening, and the next day, April 14, there will be a Colloquium on the subject of these manuscripts, with lectures by Kitzinger, Buchthal, and Loerke, presently the director of Dumbarton Oaks. It would be nice if both of you could come for that occasion to Princeton, although I realize that on these days I would not have a chance to see too much of you, as obviously I will be very occupied with seeing many of my former students who will be coming for this occasion. Still, it would be a pleasure to have you. So, looking forward to seeing you in Princeton, I am, with kind greetings, in which Josepha joins me, Yours as ever, Kurt Weitzmann KW:lh Please give my best greetings to Lola and the children. |
