Show PRINCETON UNIVERSITY PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY 2 5 Ip/zv W Defartment of Art and Archaeology June 13, 1960 Professor Aziz Atiya Department of Languages University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Aziz: If It is possible for me to depart tomorrow morning with great calm and confidence, I owe this primarily to the preparatory work which you did two years ago when things were quite different and your last minute phone call to Cairo saved the situation. In spite of the fact that you did not hear so much this time of the preparatory phase, you may be assured that I have thought often of you these days and that my profound gratitude for all that you have done for our Sinai expedition has in no way diminished. I am looking forward to meeting Fuad and Lily, who have graciously invited me to stay at their house while I am in Cairo. While I am always afraid that I might be a burden, I did accept this gracious invitation, and I am looking forward with great pleasure to meeting them. Perhaps Fuad will have the time to pay us another visit in the monastery, as he did the last time. I surely would like to have him, and it Is only our deepest regret that you cannot Join us too. But as the Germans say:MAufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben." I hope that you and Lola and the children will have a nice summer; I suppose you will travel around a bit and see other parts of the country. Until you hear from me again from Europe, I am, with my most cordial greetings and repeated thanks for all your many kindnesses, Yours as ever, Josepha also joins me in sending to you and your whole family her very best wishes.
