Wendell Phillips has written to you that the Library of Congress is willing to undertake all the expenses for microfilming the manuscripts of the Holy Convent of Sinai, that he has everything for the realisation of this project except the sum of $ 10.000.- you proposed, as a gratuity jr> our Convent, on this occasion and that he will try te raise this sum from other sources • Although this donation is not in proportion to the sec-rifice which our Convent will do in favour ef the Library of Congress and which could be done to others under better conditions fer our Convent, we exceptionaly accept, for the sake ef the science, the sum of $ 1§,000.- offered to us, on the condition that it will be deposited to our representative in New-York, Mr. Kauffmann- Grinatead 5$^Fifth Avenue New York. As soon as we shall receive from our ofeysaid representative the advice that he received the sua, for our account, we shall advise Mr. Wendell Phillips, in order that theralssiom may start and come here to begin photographing and filming our manuscripts. Our convent wishes also to let ycu know that if the Library of Congress would allow scientific Institutions er individuals te buy copies ef these microfilms, it should be fair that our Convent would receive 2£f% en the selling prices.
