Atiya University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 My dear Aziz: Your fine letter of December 22 has just reached me. We had a lovely Christmas. Merilyn, my sister, and her distinguished Navy Captain husband and I all flew to California to be with my mother. Merilyn and her husband are now back with me in Hawaii for a few days. I go into the hospital now for two weeks to get a check-up - nothing serious - and then I'll probably be in London for a little while. It is possible that I'll be in Egypt sometime in late January or probably in February. I'll of course do my best to look you up. Don't worry, I'll find you'. I have noted your address and phone number. If you change your address and phone number or your schedule, be sure and let me know. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to have some time with you back in our beloved Egypt again after so many, many years. My remarks about your tremendous contribution to the world of scholarship were sincerely given and sincerely meant and I would be delighted to say the same thing on world television or in any scholarly scientific publication, or to the world press at large. Of course, my thesis on archeology and history of Dhofar will be sent to you as soon as it is published, and my forthcoming Life of Jesus will get to you as an advance copy . I will do what I can to help your lovely daughter, Nayra My problem is that I am away so much of the time. I've just come in from Baghdad and I've got to be in Korea, Japan, Indonesia and a million other places for oil activities. And I want to get some archeology in this winter if I possibly can. |
