Perhaps your presence can be arranged if the date is not too near. Of course, I understand the position in regard to a long journey to Egypt, and I am doing my best to harness the difficulties which adverse Dublicity and secret reports create for us. This is hardly the place for details, but when next we meet we can compare notes and lines of action, I trust that you will appreciate all these circumstances which your nresence here next time will put right, I have no doubt. 6. I am glad to know that the volume of the Arabic Microfilms will soon be under way, and I trust that its publication will not drag much longer. The manuscripts has been out of my hands for nearly a year. The idea of paying General Naguib a tribute in your Forward is snlendid. 7. I understand that the Eisenhower picture is being despatched through the American Ambassador. Though this is quite normal, it has deprived us of the opportunity of seeing General Naguib on the occasion and of placing the matter of the decorations in his good hands. I am, however, pleased to know that you are in possession of a fine letter of introduction from the President to the General which will be extremely helpful in paving the way to our effective collaboration for the benefit of cur two countries and in the service of scholarship. It will be great if the letter could be presented with the Microfilm volume with your Forevard mentioning General Naguib. 8# The founding of an Institute of Mediterranean and African Studies is still floating in the air. If anything materializes, I shall let x you know in due course. Whether it does or not, this ought not to affect the progress of any project of further work ahead.
