I am visiting with the Sultan of Muscat and Oman over the weekend as he is then returning to South Arabia and I have many expedition matters etc to go over with His Highness. I will be returning however to New York after a few days, as I am just going to England to see the Sultan. I am glad that you received and enjoyed the little album of photographs on the expedition's work in South Arabia. I am sure you enjoyed Professor Albright's excellent report. I am sending you immediately a short letter from Commander Wendell Phillips Dodge addressed to the Secretary General of the Royal Geographical Society, and will be very grateful to you for taking care of both the election and the subscription. I would be also grateful if you would furnish him with a similar certificate as the one you so kindly obtained for me. I have written to Mustapha Amer as you suggested, relative to the Fakry Yemen publication and hope that this will work out. If not, I would be grateful if you would buy them for me. With regard to the two books that you require urgently, I have turned the information over to Eileen and if the books are obtainable, in this country, she will obtain them and dispatch them to you as soon as possible. As soon as I see Dr. Evans and Verner Clapp again, I will give them your best personal greetings and as soon as something satisfactory can be worked out, I will see that you are notified immediately. Have no fear, anything that will be offered to you will please you very much - I will see to that. I am sorry for the delay with regard to your volume on the Arabic microfilms, however with regard to the events that transpired in Egypt this last year, I think you'll agree with me the delay has been more than justified. And I am sure General Naguib will find the volume of unusual interest and I will certainly pay tribute to him in the foreword of the book. |
