Show April 4, I960 Professor George H. Forsyth, Jr. Dept of the History of Art University of Michigan Tappan Hall Ann Arbor, Michigan My dear George: I was very happy to receive your good letter of March 30 and all its splendid contents which I read with great care and deliberation. It looks as if you have done all that is needed at present, and we have to wait upon further developments. I am sure that the Archbishop will do what we expect of him. You should have no qualms about this very special aspect of the Expedition. You will undoubtedly hear from the Embassy in due course. The diplomats are enthusiastic on encouraging such projects as yours. It has occurred to me that, since I may be in Washington at the beginning of May, I should go and see everybody concerned at the embassy personally to emulate the project. If, on the other hand, it is not possible for me to go to Washington, I shall immediately write to one or two persons there. % the way Dr. Salana Hammad has been transferred to Cairo, and Mr. S. All Muhammad the Cultural Attache is taking over for the time being. Mr. Mohammad is an old pupil of mine and I shall be happy to contact him in your behalf. Will you be going to the Dumbarton Oaks Conference on May 5-7? I expect Kurt will undoubtedly be there. I cannot participate myself in the meeting because if I go to Washington at the time, my assignment will be with another function at the Middle East Institute on the same dates. But of course, it will be a great joy if you and Kurt will be in Washington, because we can hold a family meeting outside those dates at any rate. I doubt whether I shall have an opportunity to visit Princeton for shortage of time, and I am eager to see Kurt and yourself. You and Hope are always in our thoughts and our prayers. The four of us send both of you our kindest remembrances and fondest thoughts. Ever yours, Aziz 3. Atiya ASA:acd |
