My goodness, how I wish I could accept your invitation to sit on your balcony and drink a good cup of Arabic coffee with you bothI I hope you both are relaxing thoroughly and feeling well. No doubt it is difficult for you to limit your social activities, since you have so many relatives and friends close by. Have you seen Nelly Hanna? Please give her my special greetings. The enclosed list of Arabic periodicals in our collection we made mainly for the Main Library, after many days of checking and rechecking on Randa's part, Elaine England's and mine, as it is attempting to set up centralized check-in and processing for all periodicals in the library system,, It occurred to me that the list might also be useful to you as a guide to our holdings and our lacunae. The format we followed is that of the general Continuation List of the Periodicals Department in the Main Library - with entry as correct as we were able to make it, place of publication and date of beginning, then frequency and our holdings0 The dash indicates that we are still receiving the periodical (or think we are) and a period indicates, obviously, that our holdings end as noted. The codes at the right indicate how we receive tiiem (505 means that a periodical is sent directly to us and not through the Main Library). Life is as usual very busy. It se ms as if I have done nothing during the last six weeks excapt check Social Work theses (which is presumption on my part, but I have no choice). We have finished the books you left, Lola, and Yusuf and I hope to catalog a few together, it ever there is timec Mr. Zehery has cataloged a good many, and is now working on some hard ones that are commentaries on commentaries, etc. A few days ago some of us on the Library staff were taken through the new building, with Dick Boss as tour guide. Heaven knows, one needs a guide. The place is so big a person could easily get lost in it for years. The size overwhelmed me and , probably because it was so cold and dark, depressed me. But then, it is not finished inside. I shall miss natural light and windows where I workc There is lovely light in the atrium, which will be quite attractive, I think. As yet there no walls limiting the size of the Middle East area, so I couldn't get much of an idea about our library space0 You have probably heard that we had snow over last weekend, and it is still lying on the low foothills. Snow must sound strange to you at this time of year. It has rather surprised us too. Everybody asks about you.
