Show PRINCETON UNIVERSITY PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY Oriental Studies June 12, 19$1 • Program in Near Eastern Studies Dear Dr, Atiya: I hope you are enjoying the deserved rest of a placid and peaceful voyage across the Atlantic; and that by the time you read this you have had a pleasant reunion with family and friends on your native soil. This is to acknowledge with appreciation your last letter written before departure, I can recognise the difficulties that might arise over the payment arrangement, think it perhaps best that I get my funds directly* This then raises the question of the payment of the first monthfs rent. Originally when we talked of the various applicances which we should get to make your stay in the house comfortable, you will remember that you offered to advance me some money to help on these if it should be necessary. This I declined. Now I am having some second thou^its as I work with my accounts, - past, prosent and future. It is mainly because this past week I authorised the installation of ten aluminum, combination screen and storm windows, for the east and west sides of the house on both second and third floors, to the total cost of $2£0. These should not only be a considerable convenience, but also help considerably on the heating - or its conservation. ffy query is whether you have a fluid checking account in the U.S. and could advance this amount, the first month's rent, before our departure on July 8th. This is only in case the money might be resting in such a non-interest bearing account and as well put to use for me and make unnecessary my making other arrangements. I would lite to clear up the payment of all these items, which total almost a thousand, before departure| yet do not wish to cut too short the funds I plan to take along. If this is inconvenient, just let me know and it will be all right. With best wishes for a good summer, Sincerely yours, T. Cuyler Young. Professor A,S.Atiya, lU Sharia Wadi Si-Nil, Maadi, Egypt.
