Show h/t December 20, 1963 Dr. George Makdisi Harvard University y^-v Center for Middle Eastern Studies ( U 1737 Cambridge Street Cambridge, Massachusetts n My dear George r I assure you that it was equally or even more than equally gratifying -. for us to have you for a visit - alas! too briefly. I trust that some day (]\ you can come back, preferably with the family, for a longer and quieter visit. Now about the Gibb Presentation Volume, I am glad the project has come to life again, but am alarmed at your deadline. Since I was told long V ^ ago that Sir Hamilton was not retiring, I allowed myself to drift into other activities and my promised article slumbered. Now you are taking me by storm, and my human frame canoot cope with the hurricane. Though I had started preparing the material for the article, it is still far from being within sight of the "finis". I shall have a little time in January which I must devote to this assignment. I hope that you are not serious about the deadline mentioned. I shall exert a mortifying effort to let you have it by the end of January. Even at that, it looks as if I must curtail parts of my original project. I am eager to be in the panel of those who pay homage to our universal shaikh. I trust that you will accede to this plea. With affectionate salaams from bayt to bayt. Ever yours, Aziz S.
