OCR Text	Show \jU^»[e The Rector has promised me that the financial help the University of Cairo can provide is two folds : 1) the University of Cairo will pay a generous allowance to American visiting professors plus their travel expenses, provided that the period of their visit will not be less than three months 5 2) that Egyptian visiting professors to Columbia will keep their normal monthly emoluments during the period of their visit. As to Egyptian private funds, I am sorry to inform you that, frankly, we cannot count on any. In his letter, Professor Cheatham told me that you are the most helpful person in planning any cooperative program our Universities might decide upon, and that he and Professor Jessup would be happy tc give their aid in promoting such cooperation in any way they could. This is why I feel very confident indeed that my long cherished hope is at least on its way to materialize.
