Ronald Gregory, popular man about music, was the masterful conductor of the 150-piece organization which played in sports events and concert tours. they all loved a great circi Ranking among the top five marching bands in the nation, the University Marching Band sported trips to Tucson, Arizona and Denver, Colorado . . . football games found them performing in formations of UTAH, a Thanksgiving turkey, and a GOP elephant for election-time . . . directors Ronald Gregory and Jay Campbell built up the 180-steps-per-minute marching unit into a stylized, classy organization, envied by all surrounding colleges . . . they were the pride of the University of Utah and added to the campus life. BOOMING DRUMS and sounding horns spurred the rhythm for half-time activities at football games where the Marching Band built up a reputation for spectacular formations, maneuvering positions, and snappy marching. |
