"THE FAMOUS MRS. FAIR" ^anc.v Pair, returning from France to her home at Long Island, found the country anxious to know more of her feats, and ready to furnish her with every opportunity for establishing herself as the Famous Major Fair who had been decorated for bravery and accomplishments in France. Her family found her Croix de Guerre, first something to wonder at, then a thing to be proud of, and finally the cause of their family unhappiness. While Nancy Fair is away on lecture tours, her husband has an affair with another woman, her son marries without her consent, and her daughter changes from a happy child into a discontented young woman. Finally Nancy Fair realizes her error in neglecting her family; she gives up her career and settles down to the pleasant routine of domesticity.
