Typescript of a biographical sketch of Mary Julia (Johnson) Wilson, including information on her ancestors, from interviews with Mabel Jarvis of Saint George for the Utah Historical Records Survey in the 1930s. Mary was born in 1862 at Enoch, Utah, and her family soon moved to Washington County, living at Virgin and Toquerville. Later they settled at Hillsdale, south of Panguitch in Garfield County. Her pioneer ancestors were at Nauvoo, came to Utah in 1848, and lived at various places, including Cedar City, Parowan, and Enoch |

On different occasions she has won prizes at the Gartield Oounty Fairs amounting to Fifteen Dollars, $5.00 each tor a quilt, a crocheted ahawl and a set or knitted baby items . She began as a '\eaoher in the Latter Day Saints Sunday School when she was twelve years or age in the Hillsdale Ward of Panguitch Stake . She has serTed tor more than titty years in the L.D. s. Women ' s Relief Societ7, tor several years as President of the Hillsdale Ward organization, and tor many years and still is a Tisi ting teacher. She also labored many years as President of the Young Ladies' Mutual Improvement Organization. xfiam~ At the age of seventy-one she was still laboring in the We.rd Ohildrena ' Prillary Association as a class teacher. ~hus with her husband she has kept constantly active in religious affairs along with the rearing of a large tamilyo She has heard the preaching of allot the Presidents of the L.D.s. Church except the first Leader the Prophet 1oseph Smith, and has helped to entertain many ot these in the home of her father and at her own home on occasion of their visits to Palaguitoh Stake tor Oonterenee sessions . Her husband, George Hyrum Wilson was born October 4th, 1858, at Santaquin, the eldest son of George Deliverance and Martha .ann Bista Wilson. His father came to Utah with the Mormon Battalion, and his mother came with her family at the age ot sixteen. ~la• married attar reaching Utah.
