She also went to a private school at the home of Mrs. G1bbs on 28th street. She recalled how mad hAr mother was when this Mrs. Gibbs had thought her eye lashes too long and had cut them. 40. Mrs. Hall was her first teacher. 44. The Ogden Jwiction and the Freeman were the first papers she remembered seeing. 45. These were both published locally. The Freeman she thought was published by a woman. 46. The first telegraph office was in the depot and Belle Thompson was the operator. 47. The first horse cars or mule cars as they really were, ran as far as Mound Fort or what is about 12th street now, and Washington avenue. Her husband helped build the grade for the trac1rn from Mound Fort to 2nd street and he was paid with coupon books that were used for the five cent fare then. 'I'b.ey finally wouldn't even accept the coupons so he practical ly did his work for nothing. 51. The first play she ever saw was given in the building owned by Charlie )loodmansee on 24th and Grant avenue. The name of the play was "Ten Nights In a Bar Room." 52. It was given by a traveling stock company. She thought they came up from Salt Lake City. 76. Mrs. s tone has had twelve children.
