As devolatilization intensified, the particle temperature remained nearly constant or even dropped slightly. This would be expected since devolatilization is endothermic. When devolatilization was nearly complete (at M35% weight remaining), the temperature began to rise more sharply again, resulting in the appearance of an inflection in the temperature-time curve. Both the temperature and weight-loss profiles finally approached constant values characteristic of the nonreacting char. 21 |
