Show luck on the road, they want to come back, but it will not be until late August. Any other parish want to send a team fvr 10 to 20 days of hard labor, prayer, fun? [S]EVERAL parishes in New Jersey and Pennsylvania have asked us to send a speaker whenever we have a staff member in the East. We are thinking of sending Brother Juniper to revist his monastery, and give a few of his now famous "slide talks." If there are enough invitations to make it worth while, we will appoint a "booking agent" in the East to arrange dates. As we look sadly at our peach and apricot trees, we are thankful that some fruit remains, and perhaps we may even have enough to can for winter use - but very little. In past years, good friends i n Colorado have invited us to come and help ourselves to their surplus fruit, but reports are to the effect that they suffered more from the late Spring frosts than we did. We hate to close on a minor key - but such is life, and our friends have always in the past strained their generosity to meet our minor and maj or afflictions. No, we can add a happy note. Catherine Pickett, as we type this, is on her way back from Cortez Hospital where she underwent an appendectomy and according to reports is in fine fettle, so that after a few days of rest she should be able to get back into harness until Josephine Pontious arrives to take over and let Catherine enjoy a long overdue vacation. |
