Sir: Referring to Office letter to you of Bay 11, 1911, in which you were requested to report when the additional evidence heretofore called for in the'case of Edward and Prank Mu'r dock would probably bo furnished, you are advisod that the Office is now in receipt, by informal reference from Hon. Heed Smoot, United States Senator, of a copy of your letter of December 28, 1910, addressed to Mr. A. C. Hatch, tho attorney representing the said applicants. With tho copy of the said letter are copies of affidavits mado by Edward and Prank Murdoch, and by certain other persons having knowledge of tho facto in the caoe. A3 shown by the proceedings of the tribal council of the Utes held November'26, 1910„ forwarded by you undor date of December 3, 1910, the Indiana present at the council unanimously rofused to sanction the enrollment of the applicants, but no reasons whatever are given for their action, nor did you mako recommendation in the case. |
