Dear Sir,-About a week aa,o the Indians held a council at \ltonah, Utah. Among other things talked about was the shortage of crops,and the cause of the shortage- The Indians whose names are annexed to this letter were at that council,and er*:r27~ one of them complained about not getting enough of water for irrigation,and it was on account of that shortage of water that caused a shortage of crops,in most instances the Indians did not have half a crop,and all second crop of alfalfa was not worth cutting. Men came from Roosevelt-with a paper and they asked the Indians to put their mark on it,and when the Indians put their mark on this paper their water was shut off from them and sent to the -Thats men at Rooseyelt. a"e dont want our crops to suffer so that the white man can tret better crops than we do. This fail th re has been a shortage of snow,and we have no water in the Indian canal,we asked the water master to turn in some water for culinary use,so that the water woulfl freeze and we could gather ice, but the water master said no you cannot have ally '"ater. Ife want Bill Preece and two other white water masters let go and *e want Indian Sovs to be water- masters for us.
