Show when the man in charge is alright, then Washington go straight. I am talking to Washington Secretary right here now. I am not talking to you. You tell us to wait and find out about this Secretary's letter after while. I can't make them work, I can't make them to this work. The Indians are just going away all the time. I mean what I say. I won't listen to anybody . Pall. : - Indians like Tim, who won't try to work, but just sit dorm all the time and wait for the Government to hand them out something to eat, never do anything, they must help themselves. Capt. Johnson is not coming back, he never said he was coming bach. Capt. Johnson said he come out '.ere to hoar what you had to say and take that to the President and tell him about it Capt. Johnson did that and took every thing you said to the President and the President knows ever;- thing about it. The President has sent word by his Secretary, his right hand man. :re can't, sit down and talk to every body, so he tells the Secretary "v,o send this message to the Ute Indians, that he will make conditions the very best that he can. That is all the President can do. The President told the Secretary to tell the Ute Indians that all the head men would help and that back here tine Indians must help him by staining at home and getting to work and now Tim says he won't do it and that he won't tell the young men to go to work and that he will wait for Capt. Johnson. Capt. Johnson can't tell him anything. The President has got to do it. The Pesident wants to help the Ute Indians out of their troubles. He wants to make conditions so they will be alright, but when Indians like Tim, talk and act as he does and refuses to go to work or tell the young men to work, the President will not be able to do what he wants to. EPEUEZER: I am glad to hear the way Washington wants the head men to do. I have some relatives among the Whiter rivers and that is the reason I like it that way. I would like to have the White rivers that went away come home without any trouble, the way Washington says. Every thing to be straight and smooth. I want to be friends with all the white people, friendly with every one. I like to see all the Indians go to work early in the morning, and not run around all time like |
