S» Indian Agents- 3§r Friends,- Xast winter, Congress passed a law which affects your interests. r. This law, the Secretary is compelled to carry out, and one of the things he is obliged to do is to send an Inspector to you to get your vote on the question of allotments.. He has selected for that purpose one of .his best men, and one ^-vho has had many years experience among the Indians as an Agent and as an Inspector, and who understands the needs of the Indiana a3 well as any man in the country, and above all, is a friend of the Indian race. He ha3 given to your interests much hard study that he may advi3e you right. I have known him for many years, and he is a good man ^oYthe Indian. I want you to understand that the Secretary and the Commissioner are your friends in thi3 matter a3 well as all others, and want to do the best they can for you, hut all the Secretary can do now is to send to you a man who will explain to you all about the law, and who has a straight tongue, so that what he tells you, you can believe, and -afaat he advises you to do, you caaa depend upon a3 the best for your interests and the welfare of your] people now and in the |
