Sir: Tills Office is in receipt of a report from Capt. C.G. Hall, U.S.A., Acting Indian Agent, Uintah, and Ouray Agency, "Shite Rocks, Utah, wherein he states that a white ..an by the naae of L.A. Pike, married to a member of the Ute trite of Indians on the Uintah Reservation, has separated from his wife, and tho parties have entered into a contract ol" separation, but since its execution neither the man nor woman seem willing to live up to its provisions. Among other things stated in the contract Pike ./as to liuve oertain bees on the family ranoh. The woman declines to allow him to take them away until he agrees to pay her $500 'jeir.g an amount to which she claims she is rightly entitled. I:i view of the facts the Agent has found it necessary to keep Pike off the reservation and refuse him a residenoe thereon. It appears that Pike has now brought suit or intends to bring suit against the agent for damages and also to reoover possession of the bees mentioned in the contract* After a review of the agents action this Office 1B of the |
