Show ^ doubtless a correct one, and the distribution should be made on. that basis. You will therefore in your distribution to take place on day of August next, include the Uintah Utes, and give to them due proportion of the semi-annual payment. The estimate should be made at once, and the Agents at Ouray and the Southern Ute Agencies be directed to withhold a sum sufficient to give the Uintah Utes their due and proper share of such payment; not, however, attempting to make up the amount due them on the former payments. As in the payments heretofore made, the Uintahs have been ignored, it will doubtless create soma dissatisfaction on the part of the other Indians, if their rights are now recognised; but it is not at all necessary, at this time, to enter into any explanation to the other Indians, and the Agents should be cautioned against any mention of this affair at this t ime.
