Central Classified Files CCF Uintah and Ouray, 330- 339 ( Four Boxes) The 330' s categories deal with mining and grazing leases. There is detailed information about coal. Category 339 deals with lumber and milling operations on the reservation. Central Classified Files CCF Uintah and Ouray, 340- 349 ( Twenty- one Boxes) The first box is the documentation of a law suit against the Uinta Canal Company. They have built a dam across the White Rocks River and are taking water from the Utes. The second large file is on the Dry Gulch Canal Company. This file has been dismantled and handled many times. The file is three inches thick and should probably be copied. It has information about the construction of the Dry Gulch 1 as well as the Uinta canal, though I have not seen the term Harding lateral used to describe any of the numbered laterals spoken of in the text. The file contains the original agreement to construct these canals. There are approximately three inches of financial records. There is a great amount of information about a settlement. It seems that Dry Gulch was using water from the Uinta project to water its own lands. File 77098- 1907, 687, parts 1 and 2 should both be copied^ in whole. Thickness is four inches. The second box contains a report on the ditches under construction in 1912. It appears that three of canals involved in this project are in the works during the period of this correspondence. The file has one oversized chart. Central Classified Files CCF Uintah and Ouray, 360- 377 ( Three Boxes) These documents actually begin with the 330 category " right of ways." The rights of way discussed in the documents include roads, irrigation projects, and railroads. No Indian cultural concerns are expressed. Category 377 has a large number of documents about mines and mine maintenance. Central. Classified Files CCF Uintah and Ouray, 703 ( One Box) 20 |
