Show is not impnrtunt. It will, however, be necessary to reserve driveways, as shown in the map, in Hammond, Cottonwood and ^ ry Wash Canyons. While these driveways are not used extensively at present, they may become very necessdry int the future to reach adjoining Poroatland. The present trails up these canyons should remain available for tho use of saddle and pack animal3 at all tIme s. 12. Conslusions and Recommendations $ a) The Indians have held and lived upon lands included within the area for several generations, which gives them a moral right to continued occupancy. ( b) The area possesses possibilities contributing to the betterment of these Indians sufficient to meet the present demands. It being their choice among all other places in which to live and make their homes, they would probably be more contented and more easily handled there than at any other place. ( c) It is hold that the highest use to which the area could bo put would be as the home of these people and the place where they may enjoy improved living conditions. ( d ) The absence of any great value th^ t the area possesses for power, reservoir, or other public uses favors the elimination even though those are negative factors. ( e) ~* o adverse results to any settlements as the elimination for tho purpose contemplated will better present conditions for both tho whites aiid the Indians. Agricultural and grazing Industrie; as practiced by the Indians will be benifitted. ( f) Transportation facilities to the Porest will he greatly improved, which will benefit the general public and facilitate the Porest administration* ( g) While the demands of public opinion will not be fully met, existing conditions will be greatly improved.
