Title Gentile Account, Editor's Notes xiv
Description There are different handwritings in the journal as well as deletions and insertions. The handwriting of Elizabeth is easily identified, as is Thomas Kane's His insertions have been included in the text within brackets along with his initials. Any other handwriting has been deleted from the journal. Insertions and deletions written in ink are considered changes by Elizabeth Kane, as the original journal was written in ink, and have been included. Changes in pencil and unidentified handwriting have been ignored. Norman Bowen is to be commended for his untiring efforts to see this book published. The Tanner Trust Fund Board regrets this gentle man did not see this manuscript in print, but scholars, students, and everyone interested in the history of pioneer Utah will appreciate the contribution this book makes.
