Considerable livestock is produced in this area which has mainly for its consumption a surplus of bulky agricultural products. Probably outstanding, is the dairy industry of this area. This industry has been fighting for existence over a period of years and the high type of animals which have been kept in production herd, will represent sound, practical and economical returns at the first movement of definite returns to normalcy. THE OGDEN LIVESTOCK SHOW Unique in importance and in general plan of operation, is the Ogden Livestock Show. This institution presents annually a livestock show that compares favorably with the three largest livestock expositions in the United States. This show is held the first part of January of each year and brings within its scope exhibitors from fifteen to twenty states of this Union and Canada. The number of individual entries varies from fifteen hundred to three thousand. This exposition is considered unique in that it draws the very finest herds of beef cattle from eastern sections of the United States as well as the Pacific slope. It is the only show in the United States that has this particular distinction. Located as it is in a sparsely settled intermountain area and presenting to the visiting public the finest animals in the United States, it cannot be paralleled by any other show in this country. At this point, the Royal Purple Grand Champions of the eastern expositions com- pete with the grand champions of the western slope expositions in the Court of Final Appeals.
