Show to give the understanding the'l,I have prepared this compilation researcher the means whereby he may ponder over the material, all in one book, without wa.d.1ng through anti-LDS literature, etc. With this - revelations, deductions, declara.tions, and theories of the Brethren enclosed in this book, starting with Joseph Smith, and ending with our current Prophet, Spencer W.. Kimball. Basically, this book seeks to cover a variety of material relating to the central theme, The views, are a)The Adam-God Revelation (80:5) b)Adam-God theories and related material by the Brethren, of which some particular Fttention has been given to Orson Pratt, who evidently held a slightly vaIied theory from tha.t of Brigham Young. c)Plura.l marriage has been touched upon, because of the philosophy that Michael, if a pre-existent tabernacled God, then how -was he married? d)Statements made by General AuthoritL.s giv1:lg support to the President of the Church, in particular, Brigham Young. e)Material showing that we worship the Fathr of Adam, f)The Creation g)The plurality of Gods, h)Different thoughts by the Brethren, including Brigham, as to how Adam could be a God. i)various other comments and related material. It wll1 be ., readily admitted, that this compilation 1s far from being complete. attempt feat, it "u1d be a never-ending volume upon volume, because when we speak of God. the Father of Michael, and his relationship t.o- Michael. the entire Gospel MY be used in one way or another. It is therefore hoped, that this book should suffice to answer all questions. I take full responsibllity for this preface, and hope that I do not offend any, and I take the responsibility for choosing and selecting the quotes made by the General Authorities contained herein. If I were such to Denm.e Doddridge, Sandy, Utah. Note: This volume a specifically covers the subject of a revelation of God to Pres. Future volumes under the heading "Journal of Ref erences" will cover other subjects over the Gospel. Please bear the following thought while perusing this material: (Journal of Discourses, Vol.2,pp.122,2J: Brigham You.g) " I also heard something said the other day about sanctification. This doctrine Brigham Young, that Adam is God. ••• I heard taught many years ago,and I perceive that men do not fully understand these principles; even the best of the Latter-day Saints have but a faint idea of the attributes of the Deity. Were the former and Latter-day Saints, with their Apostles, Prophets, Seers, and Revelators collected together to discuss this matter, I am led to think there would be found a great in their views and variety feelings upon this subject, without direct revelation from the Lord. It is as much my right to differ :(rom other men, as it is theirs to dUfer from me, in points of doctrine and principle, when our minds cannot at once arrive at the same conclusion. I feel it sometimes very difficult indeed to word my thoughts as they exist in my own mind, which. I presume, is the grand cause of many apparent differences in sentiment which may exist among the Saints." (April 17. 185.3) . |
