Show INTRODUCTION XI Two open picnic and play areas can each serve up to 500 persons at a time, and an amphitheater nearby seats 600. Cold spring water is piped throughout Guinavah-an area constantly in demand by parties large and small. U. S. 89, now two lanes but slated for further improvement, winds up the length of the canyon (40 miles), with numerous side roads offering tours to more remote scenes for the more adventurous tourist, and for hunters. Beautiful Tony Grove Lake is an oiled six miles drive from the highway; hidden, high White Pine Lake is a short hike further. Withheld till the last of the upcanyon drive is the panorama of Bear Lake seen from the 8,000-foot summit. Changing from indigo and turquoise in bright, summer sun, to sandy and slate-grey in a storm and ice-white in the winter. Bear Lake is backed by lavender and vermillion cliffs with snow-capped peaks in the distance-an awe-inspiring view. Logan Canyon is proving to be a tourists’ delight, and a haven for the resident. |
