The first abstract was published in 1947 at the time of Utah's Centennial, and others were issued in 1954, 1960 and 1964. The purpose of the Abstract is to supplement two regular publications of the Bureau of Economic and Business Research, in the Center for Economic and Community Development at the University of Utah. These publications are the Utah Economic and Business Review and the Utah Construction Report. The objective in publishing this Abstract is to provide a single source of the available information, current and historical, pertaining to our state and counties. We hope it will prove useful to business; government, local, state and federal; and to individuals in making decisions that affect the future of our state. Primary credit for the assembling of the material for the Abstract is given to Gary Rockwood, Research Assistant. The graphics and art work has been done by David Oboler. The entire Bureau staff should also be acknowledged for their untiring efforts in performing all the functions necessary to make the publication an actuality.
