Hunt Thirteen Army Pershing missiles will be launched during the spring series of firings, scheduled this year from the Utah Launch Complex at Green River, from late April through early June. Units of the European-based Seventh U.S. Army, operating under simulated wartime conditions, will launch four Pershings on each of three firing days scheduled for them in April and May. The thirteenth and final Pershing, scheduled for the second week of June, will be a training round for troops of the 2nd Battalion, 44th Artillery, of Ft. Sill, Okla., who will be working with newlymodified ground support equipment. White Sands Missile Range officials announced that five road blocks will be established, on firing days only, on secondary roads leading to the Green River from U.S. Highway 160-163 between the town of Green River and Deadhorse Point, west of Moab. The road blocks will be set on Crystal Geyser Road, Floy Wash Road, Dubinky Well Road, Deadhorse Point Access Road about seven miles west of U.S.~ 160-163, and on Deadhorse Road near a landmark known as "The Knoll." The Green River safety area, located east of the river between the town of Green River and Deadhorse Point State Park, will be evaculated on firing days. No roadblocks will be set on U.S. 160-163. All missileswill be programmed to impact in pre-selected safety zones on White Sands Missile Range, some 470 miles southeast of the launch complex. An advance party of 90 troops of the 2nd Battalion, 44th Artil- lery, arrived at Green River from Ft. Sill in early March to prepare the bivouac area. The main body of Pershing support elements will leave Ft. Sill on April 6. Major Wfflis-ton B. P. McCain, battalion executive officer, will be the camp commander. White Sands Missile Range personnel will provide instrumentation, range control, communications, and ground and flight safety support throughout the firing series. Field elements of the Pershing Project Manager's Office at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., and the Field Artillery Missile Systems Evaluation Group of Ft. Sill will provide technical assistance. ROAD BLOCKS - Five road blocks will be set on firing day during the spring series of Pershing missile firings scheduled from Green River, Utah, from late April through early June.
