John Durham Receives the 2007 Raemer Award Sue Raemer was a co-founder of the Ski Archives, in 1989, along with University of Utah Marriott Library Associate Director, Dr. Gregory C. Thompson. After Sue's death in 1995, the Ski Archives Advisory Board established an award in her memory to recognize her leadership and dedication to the Archives. The award is given each year at the Ski Affair to an Advisory Board member (past or present) who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism, leadership and dedication to the program set by Sue. The recipients are nominated by the Advisory Board. The 2007 recipient of the award was John Durham, a member of the Advisory Board. He has served on many committees and is the chair of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee is responsible for the corporate sponsor drive and oversight of the Silent Auction Committee, both of which generate the operational funding for the archives. Past recipients of the Raemer Award are: John, Chris and Corey Raemer; Barbara Yamada; Carol Lupus; Myrlene Korologos; Jim Gaddis; Larry Warren; Clark Parkinson; Dave Amidon; Mike Korologos; Jim Sullivan; Safia Keller and Pat Miller. UTAH SKI ARCHIVES COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS ALAN ENGEN FILM COLLECTION This is one of those treasures that you know is out there, and keep hoping and plotting and planning to bring it into the archives. Well, with our constant badgering (like kids: ''Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"), Alan Engen finally gave in and donated his extensive collection of films and video about the history of Utah skiing. Included are films about his father,Alf, as well as his famous uncles Sverre and Karre, ski jumping, racing, and instruction, as well as features such as "Ski Crazy" and "Margie of the Wasatch."
