Description The Utah Ski and Snowboard Archives is one of the most comprehensive collections in the entire country for research into the history and development of Utah's prospering winter sports industry. The archives document the history of ski competition on local, national, and international levels; the founding of major resorts; snow safety and avalanche control; ski equipment; ski instruction; freestyle skiing; the 10th Mountain Division; back-country skiing; and virtually every facet of winter sports in Utah and the surrounding region. The archives are the repository for the Salt Lake Winter Olympics Games Bid Committee records and the records of the 2002 games themselves.

Receiving Ski Archives His­tory- Maker Awards will be: Lacey Heward, Boise, ID; Monte Meier, Nathan Roberts; Stephani Victor, Erik Schlopy, Julia Mancuso, Ted Ligety, all of Park City, UT; Clay Fox, Gillette, WY; and Steve Cook, Salt Lake City, UT. Sharing the Ski Mfair podium will be Edgar Stern, founder of Deer Valley Resort, whose story of achievement on the business side of skiing is as inspiring as those of the athletes. He will receive the prestigious S.J. Quinney Award for his contributions to skiing in the region. Brief backgrounds and accomplish­ments of the honorees appear on the following pages. The 2006 Ski Mfair will be held on Thursday, November 2, at the Little America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, October 25, 2006. A table of 10 may be reserved for $1,500, a portion of which is tax de­ductible. Individual seating is $70 and $75 after October 20. Cost includes a silent auction, recep­tion, dinner, awards program and a video presentation showcasing the honorees. Local television news­caster/ reporter Larry Warren will be master of ceremonies.
