Description |
Fall 1992, No. 1 Newsletter Editor Mike Koroloaos Jack Reddish competing in Sun I/alley Archives to Honor Six `Legends' In the annals of Utah skiing, the phrase "Legends of Competition" is synonymous with: o Corey Engen o Jack Reddish o Sverre Engen o Dev Jennings o Suzy Harris Rytting o Dick Movitz This sextet forever carved its place in Utah history in the 1940s by record- ing a composite of ski competition tri- umphs that has never been equaled. And likely never will be. That's why these individuals will be honored by the University of Utah Marriott Library Ski Archives Program at its October 29 Ski Affair, a no-host awards program and buffet at the Salt Lake Red Lion Hotel. Some 400 Utah ski enthusiasts and ski archives supporters are expected to attend. Previous honorees have been Alf Engen, considered the "Father of Utah Skiing" and a pioneer in the develop- ment of the sport in the West, as well as a former world-class ski jumper and instructor; Earl Miller, former ski school director at Snowbasin; Junior Bounous, former ski school director at Snowbird; Bill Lash, founder of the Professional Ski Instructors of America; and K. Smith, long-time ski school director and founder at Brighton. |
