Show High Performance Cyclonic Burner for Process Heaters and Firetube Boilers by Kouichi Matsui T A K U M A CO.,LTD KYOTO, JAPAN ABSTRACT T A K U M A and the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) have been developing a natural gas premixed and single-stage Cyclonic Burner for vacuum type hot water heater (Vacotin Heater). The tests were conducted from January 1996 to July 1997 at T A K U M A K Y O TO PLANT in JAPAN using the 1.62 M W (5.5 X IO6 Btu/h) test equipment. With the water cooled burner and the improved Gas/Air mixer adopted, the test result was such that the data showed NOx emissions being less than 30 ppm (O 2=0% corrected), CO emission less than 10 ppm at 1.3 excess air ratio and the possibility of the combustion intensity 7 M W / m 3 (390 Btu/in n) or more at rated load. When compared with the conventional combustion, the cyclonic combustion shows higher convective heat transfer. 1. Introduction In 1989 the Tokyo Metropolitan Government issued NOx emissions regulation. It states that N O x emissions for small capacity boilers and heaters with heating surface area less than 10m2 and at input 58 kW(l98 x IO3 Btu/h) or more to be less than 60 ppm (O 2 = 0 % corrected), the same regulation has become the dominating rule for most large cities in Japan. For larger capacity boilers and heaters, the N Ox emissions are required to be less than 40 ppm.(0 2=0% corrected). In Japan, due to the saving energy policy and small country, boilers and heaters are required to be highly efficient and compact in size, in addition to the capability of low NOx emissions. TAKUMA has participated in the commercializing plan for the natural gas premixed cyclonic burner which IGT has the concept and has been developing the cyclonic burner with a 1.62 M W (5.5 X IO6 Btu/h) test equipment since 1996. Many tests were conducted while discussing with IGT. - 1 - |
