Show VoL L FEBRUARY 25, 1924. No. 5. STUDENTS SUPPORT YOUR YEAR BOOK. Tuesday February 19, assembly called for the purpose of starting a Year Book, To get enthusiasm a-mong the students. Attorney Tan-gren told the value and purpose of a year book, which impressed the students very much. Miss Higgs said she has her year book for every yeai in school, and when she wants real enjoyment she goes to her yeai books. Mr. Eyre and Mr. Decker spoke of Married life and now, how they put their wee ones on their knee and show them their year books and say, "Look: at your Dad when he was a boy/* They also spoke of the value of a. year book, and how they increase in value from year to year. Each member of the Staff then spoke and expressed their willingness to help make the Year Book, one that the students will be proud of. It is up to the student body to help make this book, its success depends upon your efforts to furnish materi al and get your book paid for now Every student should begin to take snapshots and the best ones will be placed in the Year Book. Get busy and support your Year Book. It will be what you make it. -G. H. B. -----------o---------- THE EIGHTH GRADE BASKET BALL TEAM. Early Monday night the two eighth grades of Delta and Sutherland played one of their league games at Delta The game was very close, the score being 85 to 6 in favor of Delta. Wil-kins and Church were the star players for Delta. -EARL DORIUS ---------o--------- Subscribe for Your Year Book OUR SCHOOL PAPEB COMPARED WITH THAT OF OTHER SCHOOLS. On reading our school paper and then reoding that of an eastern high school that is much older than ours, we find that our paper is much more peppy and contains more of the happenings of the school than does the eastern paper. Our paper has the pep and vim to carry over, to be of interest to the community as well as the students and also the students of the other high' schools. If this is not a great showing for such a young high school what is Lets all get behind and push to gether and roll our MoDel to th front, we won't have very far to go. -LEONA BRUSH. SNOW BALL The Junior play is progressing i good shape. The cast is the best i the Junior Class and they are work ing hard to make it worth while The play is in three acts and interest ing through out Watch for th date in the near future. It will be given in the Pace Theatre. Watch for the hand bills. -FLOYD KIRBY. BASKET BALL. Fillmore High School vs. Delt High School. The Fillmore High will play the Delta High, Wednesday, 27th, at 7:30 P. M. February This is going to be one of the fastest games this season. We expect to send the Fillmore team home with a score of 10 to 1 in favor of Delta High. There is a big dance after the ame. EVERYBODY COME! The Faculty gave a very splendid and appropriate program Tuesday, February the 12th, in honor of one of our greatest ham Lincoln. presidents, Abra- Make the Year Book a success.-It's up to you. THIS DAY OF SCHOOL. -o- My mind becomes a Vacuum tube When e'er I think of school; My hat band grows very loose; My shoulders shrink an inch or two I have a pain all through my head My eyes get weak too. I am sure that I will not be able to stick this day through. I dash into the study room; In the hall I dared not remain, For if I stayed a minute over time I'd hear this old refrain, "Where do you belong?" "Where have you been?" "A permit from Tolman will let you in." So goes it the whole day through This rush and hurry the scrambles any worry. Oh! This day of School. -ARTHELLO STEELE RED DEVILS ARE DEFEATED Saturday night, February 16th, the Hinckley High Quint played the Delta ,Red Devils in a very fast game of basket ball. The visitors however, started with the lead and held their place throughout the entire game. The score being 17 to 43 in their favor. The Delta Red Devils were not able to defeat the other fellows but they put up a good fight through clean style of ball. Ray Boyack was high point man on the losing team and Andy Schlappy held the Hinckley star (Lesley Wright) to six field goals. The other players did equally well, their share of the fighting. It was attended by the largest crowd that has ever witnessd a basket ball game in Delta. Following t? was a dance in which everyone had a very njoyable time, in fact some said afterwards that it was the best dance hey had been to for a long while. The Domestic Science Department under the direction of Miss Skanchy las recently purchased a 144 piece Bavarian China dinner set. It is eally beautiful; and the girls and liss Skanchy are very proud of it. 'he funds necessary for making the urchase were accumulated through srving of school lunches. |
