Show 32 The foregoing rudely sketehed diagram shows sonewhat the Telative position of Mosb cnd the three seotors of the present Arohes National Monument merked in with hesvy lines amd the thres aress containing mich beauty which are not included within the boudaries It is recommended that the area be extended enbrace this good material now left out From Moab town to the Arches bydireot line to is about etent miles by euto 1t is seventeen and five miles of 1t bad To go that way one leaves Moab on Highway 450 out eleven milestrail-raad takes off of which the first mile and half 1s very bad end gives the tourist so mich annoyance that he may not contimue to Willow Spring Fram Willow Springhorssback trail goes to the Arches thence by pack train to Devils Garden or to Yellow Cat Or one canup Courthouse Wesn close to Mosb pass the Towers of Courthouse end thusto the Arohes But this latter by horse pack only Auto Highway 50 Orand Junotion--Price is at the narth and the ratlwayof theG One may go by mito two miles past Valley City and turn down Salt Valley end pass within mile a mile andquarter of the DevilGarden or one may turn off Highwey 50 atpoint four miles from Thompson md bysoutherly rocd of only twelve miles resch Yellow Cat Ifspur Tailrosd were built from Thompson to Wolf Cabin near the Airches the distance would be moderate-about eighteen miles or 1f bus serviceto be given the busses could take oft at 01500 travel the Colorado River road to Moab and then up the new forecasted road dlreotly through the Towers of Courthouse double on the Arches and pass through the center of the Devil Garden out to Thompson This would be very interesting road combination 2003 Beckwith Family Al rights reserved Digital ima ge isresting |
