Show 1103 HERMAN W. FREEZE For Complainant ( R. Vol. 14, pp. 2599- 2621) He resides at 6130 Delphi Street, Los Angeles, California and his present occupation is Deputy Sheriff. He was employed in 1911 by the American Placer Corporation of Chicago. R. 2599- 2600. The company operates at Lees Ferry, Arizona, and he was employed as superintendent of machinery. The equipment consisted of pumps, amalgamators and boilers. This machinery was brought to Lees Ferry by freight, some via Flagstaff, and some was brought in from Paria down from Marysvale. The company had a boat known as Charles H. Spencer. R. 2600. This boat was built in San Francisco and it was freighted into Lees Ferry in sections. He identified Complainant's Exhibit 415 as a photograph of the machinery at Lees ferry. The boat is not shown in the picture. R. 2601 He would judge the length of the Charles H Spencer to be from eighty to one hundred feet. R. 2601. This boat was equipped with steam power and a paddle wheel and was built for the purpose of transporting coal to the camp with which to run the machinery. R. 2602- 2603. " Q From what camp? " A From a place they had a coal mine, I understood up about thirty miles up the river, Warm creek; around in that district; I never was there." R. 2603. |
