Show 74}: January 11, 1955 Board of Regents KTUniversity of Utah EVLadies & Gentlemen: _The Special Committee appointed by the Chairman of the Board at the regular Board meeting held November 9, 1954, "-questions which had been raised by the Printing to consider the Industry in opposi- 1. tion to the purchase of a press and intertype machine by the Univer - sity of Utah, met at the Alta Club, December 26, at 12:15 p.m. There were present: Regent Ingebretsen (Chairman), Dr. Snow, and President Thomas, also Dean Leary, associated with the Committee. 1"Regent Robinson, the other member of the Committee, was absent. The report of the survey of the press of the University,made at ;{:the instigation of the Printers Managers Association, and submitted it by Mr. Hendrick Romeyn, its secretary, was brought up and given due consideration. ~F-ollovving the consideration of this report, a discussion was had as to the matter of the purchase by the Board of Regents of the 'Egflness and intertype machine on September 14, 1954. igfieady on the University campus. Having in mind the fact that the Board of Regents has this auth- ority, a policy with regard to the purchase of the two machines was- conSidered; it was decided to recommend to the Board that we purchase .the press at this time, but that the question of the purchase of the 'rintertype machine be deferred-for future consideration. |
