Show PRESS RELEASE September 29, 1978 Citizens for a Reson CUP Fred Reimherr, Co-C 359-6685 "We do not find it strange that the Central Utah Water Conservancy District is making attempts to discredit the study by Dr. Thomas Power, University of Montana economics professor, which is critical of 'error and padding' in the Central Utah Project. Attempts have been made in the past to discredit anything which disagrees with the Bureau of Reclamation on the Central Utah Project, including studies by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources requesting higher minimum project flows, and similar studies by the p. S. Forest Service, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bonneville Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, U. S. Department of Interior, Council on Environmental Quality and many other statements and studies by knowledgeable biologists, and citizen groups. " That was part of the letter sent Friday to Cecil Andrus, Secretary, U. S. Department of Interior, by Citizens for a Responsible CUP (CRCUP). The group had earlier cited 11 areas of "error and/or paddinc contained in Dr. Power's CUP study, and released in the £08 page "Issues Paper, the Central Utah Project, Part 1". "The Central Utah Water Conservancy District's charges against Power's study as absurd, totally erroneous, recklessly researched are no different that the district's other charges which refute that which does not agree with its own findings and value judgments," Dr. Reimherr, CRCUP co-chair said. |
