Plummer, Fred Reimherr, Karl Heidenreich, Dorothy Harvey, Sierra Club members and Lureau of Reclamation staff August 31, 19 7 8 meeting witli Breau staff members, Harold Sursland and Debbie Linke, Dorothy Harvey and Lillian Hayes, Provo The first meeting was to get acquainted with the new Director and request closer communications about ongoing Bureau plans and developments. So we can get involved before plans get too far down the line. Participants expressed various concerns. Dorothy Harvey left a letter with questions and requested written reply which was eventually received. Questions were answered - even if not satisfactorily! The second meeting was a follow up to hearings on the Uintah Unit of the CUP in Ft. Duchesne on August 24. Dorothy Harvey, and Brian Beard and Lillian Hayes from the Sierra Club and Prof. John Knight, Utah State University Water Research Lab. were only people at hearings raising any doubts, questions, or issues. The Bureau, the Water Conservancy, and the State staffs involved dominated the procedings in a rather intimidating way. Stephen Boyden representing the Ute Tribe and one Indian were present, until Boyden made his statement. They left, then, and no other Tn dians were present - even though this development is for Indian water needs. Dorothy Harvey made an oral statement and submitted a written statement for the Final HIS. If interested in copy, please contact. The Draft EIS does not provide for adequate stream flows on the Uinta or Whiterocks Rivers. The issue is still unresolved! |
