Q In connection with your duties in either the Clan or your Fraternity, are there places of a sacred nature to the Zuni people? A Okay, I start out with my Kiva, Kiva group. When I was ten years of age, and that's where I picked up little by' little from my father, and the first thing -- what I learned from my father is that we have a heaven, a sacred Zuni heaven that's in the St. Johns, Arizona, area. That's the place I remember on my Kiva side, and on the medicine side, and on my medicine man's, it's from east to west. And there's different names of the places, that's where I - you know, ask for prayers, you know, and namely it's one that all the medicine men begin, starting-- you know, as a group, you know, and they came out and -- that's (1) She/pa:pul'en'a. And from there it's Kuwaikuluk/a. It's further up from the first place I mentioned. That's where my clown medicine grew up to. -TT_ |
