Show 14 FAITH AND CREDULITY. <br><br> methods in making such revelations, if any such change has occurred. <br> We have already shown how the dim light of promise in the early ages deepened and strengthened and brightened, until in the fullness of time it was revealed in all its wondrous glory. The light of the world was Jesus. The law and the prophets were the schoolmasters that pointed unerringly to Christ and his cross, that cross which is the central point in the tragic history of our race. <br><br> "Towering o'er the wrecks of time, <br> All the light of sacred story <br> Gathers round its head sublime." <br><br> If in the counsels of God it had been ordained that in these last days he intended to impose new laws upon his people, would not these changes have been foretold, or at least foreshadowed, in the Word of God? <br> We have searched in the Word and found no message pointing to the peculiar doctrines of the Mormon Church as being from God. We do find messages there which, if heeded, would lead out of that church and into the fold of the Great Shepherd. <br><br> FAITH AND CREDULITY. 15 <br><br> Are we not taught in the Bible to look into its pages alone to find the law, redemption from its curse, and the plan of salvation? Paul might well have been speaking now, as in olden times he spoke to the Galatians, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Gal. I :6-9. <br> Paul, speaking to Timothy, says: "As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, neither give heed to fables," etc., "so do." I Tim. I :3, 4. <br> Hear the word of the Lord Jesus: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief <br> [Continues on next page.] <br><br> |
