Show UTAH QUILT HERITRGE COMMITTEE 4 August 1994 Mrs. Anne P. Butler 1584 East 1500 North Logan, Utah 84 321 Dear Mrs, Butler, We wish to thank you again for sharing at the quilt documentation held in Logan the charming Noah's Ark baby quilt made by Annie Augusta Bier Pannier. It truly warrants the care it has evidently been given. You have every right to be very proud of it. The documentation portion of the quilt heritage project has been completed now, and the committee is involved in selecting those quilts which will be featured in a book to be written about Utah quilts and an exhibit of some of the quilts which will be shown at selected areas throughout the state during the centennial year. The quilt you had documented was one that has been selected at this time. This letter is written to ask for further information concerning this quilt and its maker. Could you please give our committee some more information about this quilt and about Annie Augusta Bier Pannier? Any data you could provide concerning what Annie's life might have been like would be appreciated. It was noted by the women who were analyzing the quilts during this documentation that printed quilting lines were still visible on the quilt, indicating that it had been made from a kit. This would probably be one of the earliest kit quilts that the heritage committee documented--which makes it particularly interesting. It would be very beneficial to know the source of the kit. Also, might you be able to obtain a copy of a picture of her? If you do not have this information, could you give this committee the name and address of someone who might have more information? Thank you again. Sincerely, Irene C. Parker Quilt Heritage Committee 3051 Fernwood Road Layton, Utah 84 04 0 Ph. (801) 544-0741 |
