Show B. Conclusions 9] A hardware-software system has been built which measures the each second. twenty-five are stored three-dimensional positions of several points In one mode, the positions of nine hundred points are measured each second, and the data for later reduction to three-dimensional coordinates. In a second mode, the positions of sixty-one points are measured each second and the data are immediately reduced to rectangular coordinates. The standard deviation of the error from zero is 7.3 millimeters. The system has several advantages over other systems used to determine three-dimensional positions. The two most significant advantages are the multiple point measurement capability and the ability of the system to quickly measure and determine three-dimensional positions. Individual points need not be tracked because they are easily distinguished from one another. The behavior of the user is unrestricted. No bulky apparatuses need be manipulated. No technical skills, interpretation of data, or previous experience is required to achieve satisfactory results. The system is computer interfaced. A working hardware facility has been built. The hardware facility consists of light sources, scanner boxes, a digitizer and control unit, and a specially prepared environment. A light source may be a tiny incandescent lamp |
