Show INTERVIEW: C. Trujillo p age 17 ards in there fighting. I made a few friends there of the parents of the children. At any rate, the time for the examination arrived and I entered with fear because when I arrived there were various teachers sitting --they were all Americans! I was the only Spanish one and they looked at me. At that time I was very young, and the person managing the exam came in arid said, "Come over here," and put me at a table. "There is paper, there are the questions, there is everything you need." And, please;" she said, "do not ask questions, and don't let anybody bother you." She got up and ~ told everybody, "Don't ask each other; if you donlt know, don't ask, don't answer. If I see anybody talking I 1 ll put you out ." I was here and there was a girl beside me and over there .. there was another gringo. There were about twelve of us. Then the woman in charge said, Alright, start." And the first questions were about ~olorado law! Well , they were bad. That girl that was beside me probably didn't know anything because she kept asking me to tell. her the answers. The woman in charge saw her her and stood up and told her to get out. And she chase her out, she said /TheYr"e bothering these people, get out." So she left. •' Not me,'' I said,'' they Ire not going to chase me out of here just'cause I ' m a Mexican .¥ We worked all day, and then another day until about two o ' clock in the afternoon, and it was all over.
