Show INTERVIEW: C. Trujillo page 11 This school that they had was in a church. They had a high school in to\m. The first person we met was a jeweler who was the director of the school, the other one was a doctor, and the other one was a woman who had been a teacher. There were two men and one woman. They go together in the house of the jeweler, he was a watch repariman. So this man told ·them, "Here I 1ve brought this boy. He'll take charge of the class if you want him until the teacher returns." They looked at me. The jeweler didn't like me and said, "Oh, this .guy is just a kid. They're not going to obey him." The other member of the board said nothing, but the woman, who had had experience as a teacher, said, "No, from the kids come the teachers. He finished his high school . He could be a benefit to us. Let's use him." They agreed. The woman said, "Tomorrow you go to school ," and she told me where it was . There was a man who was a Mexican, he -was the janitor . "His name was Nestor Montoya," she said. "And he is going to give you a room." And the woman then said, "In the morning I will go to see you to see how you 1 re doing." "In the afternoon," she told the other person, the jeweler, "You go; the day after tomorrow you go, she said to the doctor. At that time they called me Mister. I didn't know what to do. Mr. Trujillo was new to me. So we went to Nestor's house. He had two daughters. He was a very gQod man and also his wife was a very good woman. S.o they •' |
