Show MARIA FELIZ MARTINEZ DE MAESTAS #1 MM: Yes. TM: And there were dances, right, on the day of ---?---? MM: Yes, in the day and night. TM: The day of ---?---? BM: They were songs from Mexico? TM: They were songs from New Mexico. They had one appropriate for the march, and when the boyfriend arrived at the bride's house, they came from a long distance away, the people on the groom's [side], marching with the musicians in the lead. At times the bride had music also, and they went out to meet them, but the bride stayed inside all shut in, and later in the day of ---?--- at night they laid out beds all over the place. The people slept where they would fit, some in one corner, others in another. The next day they raised the wedding, to celebrate the wedding. If they were really close to the church then they would march to the music from the bride's house to the church, and later from the church to the house with march music. Later they danced; they ate the three meals of the day, danced, and there was a dance at night. MM: Until the next day dawned. TM: And later came the delivering up [of the daughter]? Then there were already some that wandered around 18 |
